View Full Version : Stukka Dive Sound

The Stukka Dive Bomber had a unique sound, designed to frighten those on the
ground. I have tried to find an audio bite on the internet to listen to it,
but cannot find it anywhere. Seems like there is a music group with the
same name. Does anyone know where I can listen to the sound?
Also, was the sound created by whistles, spoilers, air operated siren or?
Thanks, Colin

The only time I heard the sound of the Stuka was on the Discovery Wings
series of WW2 aircraft in the episode for the Stuka. If you could get a copy
of that program it has the sound in it where it shows the Stukas in their
dive manuver.

It's a modeler's site, but has a close-up of the siren mounted on the leg.
Given the attention to detail of most serious modellers, I would assume it
is an accurate representation. iirc, Hans Ulrich Rudel mentions the use of
the siren for psychological effect in 'Stuka Pilot', but I couldn't find
the reference thumbing through the book.

The propellors on the legs drove what were essentially air raid sirens.

Thanks for the info. Also learned how to spell Stuka.
The post:

tells me that I do not have authority to go there. Must
be because of something I did much younger, or something that one of my
relatives did.

I did try it earlier with one K, but most all of the returns were for a
singing group. Thought someone might have a shortcut. The two k thing was
just a moment of bad memory cell.
